At the 2024 Peace & Unity Summit, we captured themes from multiple presentations and discussions about the importance of defending the land, water, and air from the harms of unsustainable energy practices (fossil fuels, pipelines, oil & gas, etc.). This 4ft x 12ft graphic recording was drawn in real time during the two-day summit. We also mentored Indigenous artists interested in graphic recording, and they contributed insights and artwork to the piece.
The Peace & Unity team are using icons from the graphic in various materials (print, social media, reports), and the graphic will be displayed at future gatherings to help mark how far they’ve come.
We have deep gratitude for the work of land defenders, Elders, and the Peace & Unity Summit, for welcoming us all together on the ancestral territory of the Ts’msyen (Prince Rupert, BC).
