The team at the Eating Disorders Association of Canada (EDAC) approached us about designing an interactive engagement for their upcoming national conference that brought together researchers and clinicians from across Canada. The goal of the interactive engagement was to get people reflecting on their connection to work across Canada (as most folks are working in separate clinics and research hubs), and ask them to make a commitment to improving those connections.
We met with the EDAC team in the weeks leading up to the conference to discuss metaphors, themes, and an approach that would work best for their audience. We mocked up a proposal for a “walk among the clouds of commitment” in the form of 8ft tall pillars people could weave through to see everyone’s commitments. Illustrated scenes from across Canada would form the base of the pillars, to represent the diversity of regions and people EDAC’s work covers. See a video of the walk through the clouds.
We also captured themes from across the conference in one large Knowledge Wall graphic recording. This wove together learnings from presenters, research, and insights from the audience.
