Across a series of nine provincial dialogue sessions hosted by Simon Fraser University (SFU), researchers, healthcare providers, and patient partners got together to figure out a big question: How can virtual care be improved for people living with Long COVID and related complex chronic illnesses? Supported by Health Research BC, these workshops brought clinical expertise face-to-face with the messy, frustrating realities of patients trying to navigate a fragmented care system.
Brittany graphic recorded these heavy and complex conversations in real time across all nine sessions. The illustrations focused on the actual barriers patients face like systemic gaps, the digital divide, and the exhausting administrative burden of trying to get care. These visuals were integrated directly into the project’s final Lookbook, serving as a permanent record of the network’s insights. By putting a human face on the data, the graphics are now being used as an advocacy tool to push for better clinical training, shape healthcare policy, and help build a more equitable roadmap for virtual care.
