At the national Food Summit hosted at Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works, Right to Food brought together over 400 people from their network of Good Food Organizations and Community Food Centres from across Canada. Centered on the theme “Rooted in Community, Flourishing Together,” the two-day conference explored systemic food justice, federal policy advocacy, and grassroots initiatives – including Black and Inuit food sovereignty.
Graphic recorder Brittany joined the team on-site to digitally record nine distinct sessions across two days, including plenary presentations, keynotes, panel discussions and breakout sessions. The illustrations intentionally moved away from sterile food bank tropes, framing food instead as a catalyst for dignity, culture, and deep social connection. Projected live onto gallery screens throughout the summit, the graphics provided a vibrant, living record of the room’s energy. Right to Food and its national network are now using the full suite of visual notes for ongoing advocacy work, donor communications, and social media campaigns.
