Humber Polytechnic: What the Land Remembers
Digital Graphic Recording

At the “What the Land Remembers: From Memory to Responsibility” workshop hosted by Humber Polytechnic’s Indigenous Education & Engagement team, participants gathered for a guided conversation on the deep connections between land, memory, and home. Over the course of the session, attendees shared personal “artifacts” — stories, images, and items from places of meaning — to find commonalities and build a collective living archive.

Graphic recorder Brittany captured these intimate dialogues in real time, moving away from cliché or stereotypical imagery to focus on powerful themes of “survivance” and futurism. To reflect the workshop’s grounding in Anishinaabe storytelling, the graphics incorporated metaphors of constellations and galaxies, representing the threads that connect past, present, and future generations. Utilizing a rich palette of deep blues and “oil spill” galaxy colors, the final digital recording serves as a vibrant, living archive that Humber will use for social media and future community-building initiatives.
