The inaugural gathering of the Matriarchs Advisory Circle (MAC) brought together strong Indigenous women leaders. This gathering had a theme of “weaving together collective strengths.”
Each participant wrote what they’re bringing to the circle on strips of paper that we then wove into a large braid on the graphic. The braid spirals into the middle, symbolizing the gifts we bring to our work impacting the next generations to come.
This circle of matriarchs is leading community-driven soccer initiatives that centre Indigenous culture, strengthen health and well-being, and elevate Indigenous women’s voices.
