At a national meeting hosted by the First Nations Tax Commission (FNTC) in Vancouver, leaders from across the country gathered to discuss initiatives for advancing First Nation economic growth and self-determination. Over two days, the session focused on strengthening fiscal and economic jurisdiction through innovative revenue systems and tax models. Graphic recorders Tanya, Brittany, and Jessie captured these complex dialogues in real time, while a large-scale Engagement Wall invited participants to share their own visions for the future.
The visual theme, “Guided by the North Star: Our Journey to Self-Determination,” utilized a galaxy and constellation metaphor to connect the various themes of the conference. The Engagement Wall served as a legacy piece, featuring prompts that encouraged attendees to contribute their “biggest wish for the future” and what they intended to bring back to their communities. To further document the impact of the event, an animated video was created following the conference to weave together the key stories and insights shared during the summit.
