What if a graphic recording was a river you could walk along?
For the third year in a row, we had the honour of supporting Nations Rising; a powerful annual gathering designed and led by Indigenous youth from Vancouver Island.
This year, we took graphic recording entirely off the walls, illustrating live directly onto the life-sized canoe and flowing river of over 100 reusable salmon and water decals.
As Tanya captured insights across both surfaces, the youth added their own voices by writing “what brings me joy” on the salmon, creating a vibrant journey of shared wisdom swimming alongside the canoe.
At the end of the gathering, we transferred the decals to parchment paper so they can live permanently on the floors of the Nations Rising office.
